Ome of the most powerful albums ever written....I spent my 20s doin Heroin(i know...) and listening to The Velvets and Lou Reed... Absolutely amazing, gutwrenching tale of love/loss that runs like a movie, you MUST hear the whole piece End to End or the tracks become separated+you lose the narrative...6stars ******..

Lou is such a brilliant composer, absoloutely genius, i always thought the intro was from some classical song, just goes to show how epic lou is!

For the record, while I fully agree with you that this is one of the most brilliant albums ever recorded, it is also one of the darkest and most crushing. This ending track only seals the deal on a brutal brutal record. A little bit of uplift called 'sad song'? Fuck you Lou Reed, you make my soul hurt.

I hit Lou (accidentally) with a picnic basket in Liberty's, London once. Fine way to treat the man who provided the soundtrack to my uni years. Thanks to Nicola Ryley for giving me the album cos it was too heavy for her.
