I seem to be hitting like on all her songs I hear. I love it that even though I was born in 1982 I can still enjoy her and feel a connection to her music.

Exquisite beauty in words and music. Joni at her amazing best.

Song For Sharon - What a truly spectacular song. It should be a classic along with "Taxi" by Harry Chapin on story telling. But that's OK. Apparently Sharon's story ended much too quickly for most at a mere 8 minutes. An 18 minute version would have nailed it down perfectly, I'm sure. It's a tireless song. A tireless story. One could only wish the song lingered just a while longer.......

Agreed - Hejira is in a class of its own, as is she.

This used to be played on FM radio. That's the only way I would have heard it. I wish programers would be more open to classics like this again, that are over 3 minutes long.

My favorite Joni Mitchell song. Unfortunately it never gets a radio play because it's more than 3 minutes long.

The most perfect narrative song of the 20th, or any other, century. All heart, all soul, all emotional control over lyric and cadence, and rhythm is here. It's a song that simply cannot be surpassed. If you are a man with a heart it opens a woman's soul to you, if you're a woman of heart and mind, then it's not telling you anything new. It's just lovely.

This song has been my companion for many years...

I don't think she does. I just say that based off of what I've heard her say over the years and in interviews. She had never intended herself to become so famous, from what I've gathered. |
