It kind of boils down to this (assuming your customers are using social media platforms and would appreciate a conversation with you there). Either you care about your customers or you don't. There may or may not be immediate ROI to caring, but not caring is not going to give you the best chance to be successful in the long run.

You kinda missed the entire point of the video Chris. This isn't saying Social Media is a better sales tool. It's saying it's a communication tool that you can't use ROI in a sales situation to justify.
