No. It works as a network media streamer. You can watch cable TV through it only with a cable TV subscription. The device can be used without cable but it only allows you to view Amazon VOD, Netflix, and many other web based providers. Most of the networks block Google TV so you can't for instance go to CBS.com and catch up on your favorite show with this device.

I'm not sure if Google TV works with Comcast. You can still use it without any cable TV set top box or DVR. I do. |
