Jewish propaganda? The guy makes his dad happy, yeah, but goes back to a VERY secular lifestyle. If anything, integration wins over religion, though not family loyalty. I doubt anyone thought that introducing Christians to Jewish liturgy would win converts. Who do you think this harmed? As for cutesy "Jew" story, this has Prodigal Son written all over it as well.
