WE NEED A VISUAL ARTS CATEGORY ON YOUTUBE THREAD- http://www.google.com/support/... WillofDC,You are YouTube's official news person. I am writing you to inform you of an art movement that is underway. The artists of YouTube are working together to advocate for a new visual arts category on YouTube. There is a large amount of really talented visual artists who upload their work to YouTube; but we can't find each other because our work is scattered between the how to and style, education and film and animation categories and buried under make up tutorials, cooking and workout videos. Great art is often unappreciated in the era in which it was created. For instance, Vincent Van Gogh sold only a handful of paintings in his lifetime, but after his death, his work was considered ground breaking. What YouTube has done for the visual arts is unprecedented in arts history! We can now, not only communicate with each other, but we can see how an artwork is created. YouTube has also changed the patronage system in art through its partner program. I used to strive to get in to an art gallery, but now I am fortunate enough to be a YouTube partner. Everyone with a computer and an internet connection now owns my work, rather than a single person. With some foresight, it is easy to see that YouTube will be seen by future generations as the greatest Art museum and the greatest university of the early 21st century, but the leaders at YouTube don't seem to realize the scope of what they currently manage. Let me prove this point by stating that the greatest Museums of the 19th and 20th centuries all have YouTube channels, and that means that they have to upload somewhere. Believe it or not, the Metropolitan Museum of Art actually uploads in to the Education section, which has a Lifelong Learning and an Engineering sub section but no visual arts section.Over the past few years, YouTube has collaborated with the Guggenheim Museum and had many visual artists in the running for the "On the Rise" competition and all have fared very well. We have also had one winner, ThePortraitArt, who was voted in by thousands of YouTube viewers. This is evidence that there is demand for the visual arts on YouTube. YouTube often asks its viewers for feedback and at the advice of a Google employee we started a thread in the YouTube forum. This thread has been the most active thread over the past two weeks in the Feedback and suggestions forum with 445 unique responses. I also have been managing a playlist of YouTube artists who have contributed over 30 V-Logs that advocate for a visual arts category. I have been subscribed to your channel for a while and I enjoy your now daily updates. On behalf of all of the Visual Artists on YouTube, I ask that you mention us in an upcoming video. All true artists have a need to create and to be seen. YouTube would give us the greatest gift in the world, if it created a Visual Arts category for us. It would be easier for us to find each other and see each others work.Sincerely,Merrill Kazanjian(kazanjianm)OUR GAME PLAN1.) Keep posting in the forum (link in video description)2.) Put the link to our forum in the video description section of ALL OF OUR VIDEOS.3.) Keep making V-Logs ADVOCATING for a VISUAL ARTS section on YouTube.4.) SHARE! SHARE! SHARE! ANY VIDEO THAT ADVOCATES for a Visual Arts Category. 5.) Get your favorite artists involved. (SHARE! SHARE! SHARE!)This is our roadmap to success. Although we have not g

I´m happy, that this movement is still going, and lots of people still participate in the forum. I will definetly put the link in my videos. Not many will see it, but every small progress can help to accomplish our goal. Thank you very much for putting so much effort into this!
