When Trent Reznor sang this song it was about the selfish pain he felt for himself over the circumstances he created.When Johnny Cash sang this song he sang about the pain he felt by causing his loved ones pain, and how all the acclaim and awards and money meant nothing compared to wishing he had been a better man for his family over the years.Funny how age has a way of showing us our mistakes wether we want to see it or not.
