In the US the highest percentage of religous people in a population can be found in prisons and jails...higher than the general population.This is a fact that can be looked up.

I think you will find the most destructive wars of history in the 20th century like ww2 and the cold war etc were not casued by religion but by poltics.Don't you think that this suggests that poltics causes wars? The crime rate is more to do with poverty than religion. If religion did not exist the early ideas of science would have died as it was preserved by monks. As I have said religion is just a medium and so anything could a medium for war

we would be more developed today, thanks to religion sciences was opressed for a realy long time. if that did not happen. we might had a cure for aids, cancer and what not.religion = power its a way of controlling, secular countrys, like zweden the netherlands. enc.. have far less crime and murder rates then for instance the usa.you don't need religion in anyway.power causes war, religion = power a way of controlyes war without religion exist, but it would be less.

I am sad that so many continue to misunderstand the church, her history, and her teachings.Inquisition was the Spanish Catholic church. In fact the church condemned it. And when the spanish inquisition occurred the Vatican condemned it and gave sanctuary to the Jews within the Vatican walls. Simply because a few do wrong does not mean that we should condemn the whole. If so, we should condemn the Church because of the actions of Judas. We are all sinners. All fall short of God's glory.

no there would be war anyway. War seems to be to be part of human human society. Religion is just another mean of gaining power. If religion never existed society would not be as developed as it is today. Power casues war

You say church as if there's only one. In fact there are many and an atheist have a problem with religion as a whole not your church specifically.Sure, you can claim the church condemn these actions, however what you can't do is deny that if it weren't for religion none of the above would have gotten away claiming they had divine right to do what they did.besides, the vatican has its own list of artrocities throughout history and there is no missunderstanding about that.
