October 23, 2010 - Professor Margot Gerritsen illustrates how mathematics and computer modeling influence the design of modern airplanes, yachts, trucks and cars. This lecture is offered as part of the Classes Without Quizzes series at Stanford's 2010 Reunion Homecoming.Margot Gerritsen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Energy Resources Engineering, with expertise in mathematical and computational modeling of energy and fluid flow processes. She teaches courses in energy and the environment, computational mathematics and computing at Stanford University.Stanford University: http://www.stanford.edu/Stanfo... "Mathematics serves no purpose."Then Mathematics must be king, and all others serve her.
mdiem (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
Me too. Her looks are alright, but that skill with the chalk is what turns me on!

So Red Bull = Mathematics?Transitive Property and Syllogism, right?;-)

Thank you Professor Margot!

you quite obviously serve no purpose either.
automaticSOM (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
What do you mean it serves no purpose? Everything (well pretty much everything) in life is derived in some way or other from mathematics. You wouldnt be using a computer if mathematics didnt exist.BTW the lecturer is hot, and that is saying something given that "hot maths teacher" is damn near an oxymoron.

demystified equations... learned a lot

Did you notice that she is not wearing a ring ;).Getting married to your teacher is a good reason to come to Stanford.
