This was the song my late wife and I agreed to have play as a final "farewell my love" song at her funeral in 2002. This is the first time I've been able to play it since. It just seemed to describe the way she lived her 39 years on this earth...no pretense but with grace, courage and dignity and a sometimes unconventional view of life...fun and adventurous but with an intellect that never rested for long. Beautiful song thank you Mr Fagen.

My favourite album of all time. I've transcribed a piano part for this. you'll find it here - grantobrien.co.uk/resources/Maxine.pdf (you'll need to stick the 3w at the beginning - youtube doesn't seem to like you posting links!)

I think he is one of a few musician who combined the finest artistry and making profit. Maybe he was chosen to do so... Maybe it was a necessity...

No disrespect-but he studied at Bard College which is where he met Walter Becker. He didn't even study music while in college.

Unbelievable record. Arrangements? These are beyond arrangements - Fagen is the Einstein of musical taste.

This is the only comment that I have even seen worth posting on you tube. Well said. |
