I loved Peters character in this movie. Was he nominated for any awards for this?

Kubrick and Kurosawa could do things with a movie camera that shouldn't have been possible. This is one of those rare beasts that brings about an awe--an awe and a yearning felt deep in the soul. Scary thing is he made more master works than just this one. I'm an atheist, but God lived in this man.

You really should give Seven Samurai and Yojimbo another chance. This time focus your attention on the perfornamces and how each actor plays off each other (not to mention the emotional layers of Mifune's character that are slowly revealed in Samurai, which features what I consider to be his most entertaining perfomance).

There is a Japanese Macbeth-based movie set in Warring States period, also. Probably also by Kurosawa. |
