I don't like the added "beats" either. But without them, it really was almost a fast tempo 1940s vamp song. So I am sure they were added to broaden its appeal. It's quite creative. Simple in melody, clever in lyrics, and whats impressive -- beyond that this is a great composition of hers, but this arrangement with all the vintage elements, from what I read, is almost all her concept (though her producer I am sure was invaluable).
