Alas, Laphroaig is artificially colored. From their website: "Robert Hicks, our master blender, has always said that as well as the flavour and quality of Laphroaig being consistent the colour should stay the same as well. To regulate the colour, a very minimal amount of caramel is added".As a buyer, I don't give a lick about color consistency, especially in whisky that sits in a green bottle inside a cardboard box. Frankly, a little variation speaks to the integrity of the distillery.

I was spoiled first by having the quarter cask strength. I'd say I was disappointed when I tried this one. It's a good basic scotch with a taste I just noticed a sea water taste just recently. The peat isn't a big smokey flavor. I'd give it about a mid 80's, about 84.

Hey ralfy, thought I would drop you a line to say that I picked up a bottle of Laphroaig 10 YR, bottled by Berry Bros and Rudd. It's non chill filtered, NO COLORING!, 58.5%. It's bleeping good! I'd send you photos, but it wont let me post links here.
