@deoriginalish87 i tend yo agree because the direction was bad. you really don't find any motive of why his boss was going to kill him. Clooney's character was trying to find himself but led a double life. it should have been much better then it was.

I really liked the movie, it's very slow, but stylish. I understand that people might not like this, especially because this is not the traditional American 'explosions and action everywhere' movie and the movie is called 'The American', after all. I wouldn't judge it by the action movie standards, because it isn't an action movie. If you're an impatient person, this movie is probably not for you.
