I think the stereotype that Romance languages are sophisticated and beautiful while Germanic ones are rough and barbaric is just being blindly passed and spread around, so when people who have never heard of French actually hear it for the first time, they're already programmed to think: ohh, beautiful. And when people hear German, they think: ugh, Hitler. This is coming from an Asian guy, so no bias here one way or the other. Just an honest observation =)

Dutch is definitely prettier, but it's a lot more difficult to learn than German.

Knap dat ie helemaal geen accent heeft, zowel als ie Nederlands spreekt niet als Engels.(Absolutely accentless, both in Dutch and in English.)
