With the magnifier? I have astigmatisim and i am farsighted, and can use an eotech holo and some other reflex sights with both eyes open. I think the magnifier would prevent that, because you would see 3x magnification with one eye and not the other.

with astigmatism its really hard to shoot with two eyes open :(

It does limit your field of view like all magnified optics do. At 3x though you can still keep both eyes open when shooting so the field of vision isn't that big of an issue. If you're gonna focus all of your attention looking through the magnifier then it will limit your field of vision.

Will the magnifier really limit your field of vision as much as it seems as seen through the camera?

Third gen (G.33STS) has a few changes: 1. No longer have to push the lever to fiddle with in order to release it for flipping.....you just slap the magnifier to the slide with the heel of your hand. 2. It's a more compact sight (shorter). 3. The ocular now has a focus ring, so you adjust the sight to your vision. 4. Centering controls (up, down - right, left) are now tooless. As of 19 Apr 2012, EOTech has not released the G.33, but its days away.

The 4 dot seems to be a marriage between the traditional Eotech and the ACOG. Some people think the basic Eotech reticle is pretty "busy" and with 4 dots it definitely is. I think if you are going to use a 4 dot & a magnifier is a good way to go so you can use that BDC better. The cost of the 4 dot & a magnifier is close to that of an ACOG but you still have a lot of versatility. To me it would all depend on how far I anticipate shooting. I don't get past 100 yards very often though :(

Well done. Just bought a Ruger SR556CLA and am somewhat conflicted with which EOTech reticle to go with. I've heard from several forums that the 4 dot reticle is most practical with magnification...and rather difficult to discern without it. I like the clean view offered by the -0 and -2 reticles. Been waiting to hear back from EOTech regarding the official release of the G.33 magnifier. No joy yet. What is your opinion on the the 4 dot reticle and the benefits of the G.33? Nice vid bro ! |
